Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off Day Scheduled For Saturday August 10th in Somerville
Household Hazardous Waste Day is held the second Saturday of the month
from April to November, 9:00 AM-12 Noon at the DPW yard, One Franey
Road. Note: You must bring proof that you are a resident of Somerville. A
driver's license or utility bill will be accepted. You must actually
reside in Somerville.
The following items can be brought to the DPW:
• Brake Fluid- One gallon or less; otherwise, dispose of privately.
• Batteries- Rechargeable or car batteries.
• Driveway Sealer- Up to two buckets. Larger amounts must be disposed of privately.
• Fire Extinguishers- Commercial grade or non-empty household extinguishers.
• Fluorescent lights bulbs
• Insect spray cans
• Mercury and lead sheets
• Paint- To prevent spilling, please bring cans with paint in a box-not a bag.
• Pool chemicals- Small quantities can be brought to the DPW; large amounts must be disposed of privately.
• Propane tanks and propane torches
• Thermometers- If broken resident should place it inside a covered
glass jar and keep it in a well ventilated area away from children's
reach until it can be brought to the DPW on Hazardous Waste Day.
• Transmission Fluid- Residents can bring up to 1 gallon; larger amounts must be brought disposed of privately.
